Forward Deployed Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers and application environments.

• Oversee cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, networking, DNS, firewalls, and SSL/TLS configurations.

• Identify and resolve system-level issues related to resource utilization, connectivity, permissions, and application availability.

• Ensure system reliability, performance, security, and operational stability.

• Automate routine administrative and infrastructure-related tasks.

• Design, maintain, and debug software using Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Develop backend services, REST APIs, scripts, and automation utilities.

• Collaborate with PostgreSQL and MySQL databases for application development and troubleshooting.

• Deploy and manage applications utilizing Docker and containerized environments.

• Configure and sustain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.

• Manage Git-based development workflows, application configurations, environment variables, and deployment processes.

• Implement monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and operational procedures.

• Convert business and operational requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Integrate software applications with third-party APIs, databases, services, and external systems.

• Configure and implement solutions across various infrastructure and operating environments.

• Collaborate directly with stakeholders to comprehend requirements, investigate issues, and validate implementations.

• Analyze and resolve issues spanning application, infrastructure, database, and network layers.

• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective measures.

• Document system configurations, integrations, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting processes.

• Recognize opportunities to enhance automation, maintainability, security, and system performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, software development, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a blend of these fields.

• Proficient programming skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Practical experience in administering and troubleshooting Linux environments.

• Knowledge of backend applications, REST APIs, databases, and software integration.

• Experience with Docker, Git, and application deployment workflows.

• Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, ports, firewalls, and SSL/TLS.

• Experience with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

• Capability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.

• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform or Ansible.

• Experience with monitoring, centralized logging, and performance troubleshooting.

• Exposure to Kubernetes, distributed systems, background workers, or message queues.

• Experience implementing integrations with external platforms and APIs.

• Familiarity with AI/ML application deployment or LLM-based systems.

• Experience in environments that necessitate direct technical implementation and stakeholder interaction.
