Forward Deployed Engineer – Clearance Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with mission users and stakeholders to grasp operational requirements and convert them into technical solutions across product, data, and integration stacks.

• Take ownership of the architecture and implementation of new capabilities, integrations, and enhancements in production.

• Make architectural decisions involving applications, data, integration, and AI-enabled workflows.

• Design systems for reliability, observability, security, and within constrained operating environments.

• Test, deploy, and sustain functionality and features.

• Integrate software solutions with APIs, business processes, external data sources, and enterprise systems.

• Diagnose production issues alongside users and create robust engineering solutions.

• Identify high-value challenges and validate solutions in operational environments.

• Transition capabilities from prototype to production and evaluate mission outcomes.

• Conduct user training and mentoring sessions for junior engineers.

• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to optimize workflows and establish best practices.

• Assess new technologies for their capabilities, reliability, cost-effectiveness, or delivery speed advantages.

• Prepare and present documentation, demonstrations, and reports to government and industry stakeholders as well as senior executives.

• Operate independently on ambiguous, high-priority issues, making informed technical trade-offs.

• Travel 30% or more (CONUS) to provide localized technical support at mission sites.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret clearance.

• Strong full-stack engineering experience with modern TypeScript-based applications.

• Experience with contemporary frontend frameworks; familiarity with React is advantageous.

• Proven experience in designing and operating production backend services and APIs (e.g., Node.js or similar).

• Experience designing integrations across APIs, external data sources, and existing enterprise systems.

• Experience delivering containerized software through modern CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience deploying secure production systems in cloud environments; familiarity with AWS GovCloud or DoD environments is a plus.

• Expertise in the software development lifecycle and security principles.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to effectively engage with multiple stakeholders, including senior executives from both government and industry.

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting and prioritize effectively.

• Demonstrated capacity to operate with considerable autonomy in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

• Willingness and availability for travel to client sites.

• Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Government security clearance; only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

• Desired: experience in building AI-enabled production systems, sales engineering within the federal government sector, knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Unix/Linux, AWS GovCloud, mentoring or leading technical teams, and Security+ certification or a willingness to obtain it within six months of hire.
