This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for customers operating in the field.
• Take ownership of integrations, onsite deployment tasks, and the conversion of operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Engage directly with customer systems, address complex challenges, and swiftly prototype tools and integrations.
• Allocate roughly 25% of time on-site with customers throughout the United States.
• Observe operators, analysts, and frontline teams to gain insights into workflows, constraints, and integration needs.
• Develop prototypes for tools and integrations in the field to test concepts, resolve urgent issues, and validate feasibility.
• Identify operational and systems challenges across diverse and degraded environments.
• Convert field insights into technical specifications and integration requirements for the engineering team.
• Lead the technical integration efforts involving APIs, data pipelines, hardware/software interfaces, and security/compliance-sensitive deployments.
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure that features, interfaces, and infrastructure meet operational demands.
• Represent the technical realities faced by customers internally and break down ambiguous issues into actionable technical tasks.
• Facilitate smooth deployment, data flow, connectivity, and operational reliability in high-stakes situations.
• Provide insights to product and engineering teams based on data, field observations, and feedback from frontline personnel.
• Assist in pre-sales activities by traveling to prospective client sites to showcase and confirm product value.
• Contribute to the establishment of the foundation, processes, and culture for Realm’s forward-deployed engineering function.
• Minimum of 2 years of software engineering or forward deployed/mission operations experience, with a proven track record of delivering impactful work.
• Strong technical proficiency with the ability to read, write, and debug code sufficiently to create prototypes.
• Experience working directly with enterprise, industrial, government, defense, or security-sensitive products.
• Solid coding abilities, problem-solving skills, and a robust understanding of computer science principles.
• Proficient in Git and Linux.
• Proven capability to lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives, influence technical teams, and drive projects from inception to completion.
• Ability to excel in ambiguous settings, prioritize tasks effectively, think methodically, and balance long-term goals with immediate priorities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical skills, including data analysis, hypothesis generation, and data-informed decision-making.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and AI-assisted coding.
• Must be based in the US; preference for citizenship or permanent residency.
• Preferred: experience working directly with customers in field or operational settings.
• Preferred: experience in deploying software within industrial or government contexts, considering safety, latency, offline operations, or compliance constraints.
• Preferred: familiarity with mobile or web applications, cloud infrastructure, IoT/industrial systems, or real-time data pipelines.
• Preferred: experience navigating sensitive or mission-critical customer environments.
• Preferred: expertise in mining and industrial safety regulations.
