Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop, configure, test, and implement AI voice agents for healthcare interactions that engage patients.

• Act as Aqurio's internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for integrations with the athenahealth and ModMed platforms.

• Oversee athenahealth API subscription webhooks, including department/provider mappings, patient matching, and the logic for appointment booking and cancellations.

• Utilize ModMed Developer APIs across EMA and gGastro to align specialty-specific workflows, procedure block scheduling, and intake needs.

• Perform technical discovery sessions with practice administrators and clinical informatics leaders in the Dental, Eye Care, GI, and Urology sectors.

• Design and create bi-directional workflows for native PMS/EHR endpoints to facilitate slot discovery, locking, booking, confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling.

• Navigate workflows related to intake and patient verification, including duplicate checks, demographic validation, MPI rules, guarantor setup, and patient criteria.

• Develop lightweight Python/TypeScript connectors, execute data transformations, and create webhook listeners that interface directly with ambulatory EHR APIs.

• Manage end-to-end technical onboarding during customer pilot programs.

• Validate scheduling logic against active clinic calendars and address implementation edge cases.

• Work as an individual contributor; no supervisory responsibilities involved.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.

• Previous experience in healthcare technology is essential.

• Proficient knowledge of EHR/PM platforms.

• Familiarity with HIPAA data handling regulations.

• Knowledge of IntelePeer SmartFlow, Genesys, Amazon Connect, Nuance, or comparable CCaaS/CPaaS platforms.

• Practical experience in developing LLM-based agents.

• Experience in prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns within production environments.

• Background in ASR/TTS configuration, telephony integration, DTMF handling, and tuning for latency-sensitive responses.

• Experience contributing to team engineering standards, including testing frameworks, build checklists, documentation templates, or reusable component libraries.
