Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with banking architecture, infrastructure, and product teams to gain insights into their landscape, challenges, and modernization objectives.

• Convert business requirements into technical specifications.

• Design the future-state architecture of the bank to enhance innovation.

• Establish trusted relationships with the leadership of bank engineering and architecture.

• Transform deployment patterns, friction points, and unmet needs into product specifications and platform enhancements.

• Create proofs of concept and develop comprehensive bank use cases, including digital twins, checking accounts, and stablecoin wallets.

• Integrate systems upstream and downstream utilizing clean, robust, production-grade patterns.

• Construct and sustain high-performance data pipelines that connect existing banking systems.

• Conduct performance testing and validate scalability, resilience, and failover mechanisms.

• Assist sales with technical demonstrations, architecture workshops, and platform training for potential clients.

• Travel to client locations as necessary, with travel expectations ranging from 25–50% depending on the engagement phase.

• Deploy software directly to production environments at an enterprise scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering robust, scalable infrastructure using Go or similar systems programming languages such as Rust or Java.

• Extensive knowledge of Kafka, concurrency patterns, event-driven architectures, and multi-region databases.

• Strong familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.

• Background in building data-intensive systems and distributed data pipelines.

• Capability to incorporate AI into workflows and awareness of contemporary LLM capabilities and agentic development methodologies.

• At least 4 years of experience in a technical, customer-facing position, such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, Consultant, or Software Engineer.

• Preferred knowledge of financial transaction processes, core banking systems, or banking technology.

• Ability to excel in uncertain situations and develop processes where none currently exist.

• Accountability for outcomes and production-related issues.

• Flexibility to alternate between coding, architectural design, and leading workshops.

• Relevant mix of professional experience and educational background.

• Willingness to travel to client sites as required, approximately 25–50% depending on the engagement phase.
