
Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Collaborate directly with district IT, data, curriculum, and operations teams to gain insight into systems, constraints, and workflows.
β’ Translate loosely defined customer requirements into technical designs, implementation strategies, and production software.
β’ Manage the technical relationship from initial discovery through integration, customization, deployment, and stabilization.
β’ Develop and maintain integrations with PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Synergy, Clever, ClassLink, and other district systems.
β’ Implement REST API integrations, SFTP pipelines, SSO and rostering processes, data transformations, validation systems, and backfills.
β’ Enhance Ediaβs products by incorporating district-specific workflows, internal tools, reports, interfaces, and automations.
β’ Deliver full-stack functionality across backend services, data models, and user interfaces.
β’ Safely migrate and reconcile sensitive, inconsistent, and incomplete district data.
β’ Troubleshoot schema mismatches, authentication issues, API limitations, data-quality failures, and unexpected customer setups.
β’ Create mechanisms for testing, observability, reconciliation, retry, and recovery for integrations.
β’ Remain accountable throughout the go-live process while balancing customer needs with maintainability, security, and platform health.
β’ Identify recurring customer challenges and transform one-time solutions into reusable platform capabilities.
β’ Develop integration frameworks, configuration systems, implementation tools, and operational playbooks.
β’ Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to shape the roadmap based on insights from the field.
β’ Use sound judgment regarding customization, generalization, and delicate approaches.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
β’ Over 4 years of practical software engineering experience.
β’ Strong programming fundamentals with the capacity to quickly become productive in an unfamiliar codebase.
β’ Proven experience in building production backend services and data integrations using REST APIs, data pipelines, and asynchronous workflows.
β’ Excellent debugging skills across application code, data, infrastructure, and third-party systems.
β’ Familiarity with cloud infrastructure.
β’ Ability to design a system, implement it, and ensure accountability for its performance in production.
β’ Exceptional communication skills with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Comfort in navigating ambiguous customer environments.
β’ Experience with Node.js and TypeScript, AWS, React, full-stack product development, SIS/LMS/rostering/SSO/education-data/public-sector integrations, or roles in technical consulting, implementation engineering, or early-stage startups is particularly valuable.
β’ Must be eligible to work without requiring employment visa sponsorship or transfer, as Edia is currently unable to provide sponsorship.
