Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Integrate directly with customer engineering teams to develop code, tools, integrations, and configurations necessary for deploying Blockstream products.

• Deliver implementation work back into Blockstream’s main product offerings.

• Utilize AI-assisted development to produce minimum viable solutions and proofs of concept, subsequently refining successful prototypes into comprehensive use-case playbooks.

• Assist Enterprise Sales with technical pre-sales activities, including RFP/RFI responses, security questionnaires, SOW scoping, effort estimation, and managing scope changes.

• Take responsibility for technical delivery from project initiation to production deployment and ongoing post-launch support.

• Collaborate with financial institutions to gain insights into their business processes, operational workflows, and technical environments.

• Configure, deploy, and enhance Blockstream products in accordance with customer specifications and approved solution designs.

• Plan implementations, configure systems, perform testing and UAT, deploy to production, establish success criteria and milestones, and oversee implementation results.

• Conduct administrator and end-user training sessions.

• Integrate Blockstream enterprise products with core banking and capital markets systems.

• Deploy solutions in on-premise, network-isolated, and air-gapped banking environments under formal change control, while generating security and audit documentation.

• Design and implement integrations using necessary interfaces and data pipeline technologies.

• Address technical, configuration, and integration issues effectively.

• Work alongside customer engineering teams to ensure secure, scalable, and production-ready deployments.

• Create reusable deployment assets, implementation playbooks, technical documentation, and best practices.

• Collaborate with Engineering to address product challenges and enhance implementation quality.

• Facilitate technical workshops, architecture discussions, and implementation planning sessions.

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor by building relationships across customer Technology, Operations, Security, and Engineering teams.

• Transform implementation insights, customer feedback, and opportunities for product enhancement into actionable code.

• Identify repeatable deployment patterns and contribute to standardized implementation practices.

• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to influence the roadmap and enhance platform capabilities.

• Accelerate the customer time-to-production by continuously improving deployment frameworks and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience in Software Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Professional Services, Technical Consulting, Implementation Engineering, or Enterprise Software Delivery.

• Proficiency in at least one backend or systems programming language, such as Python, Go, or Rust, enabling independent development and delivery of integrations, tools, and services.

• Experience in implementing and deploying enterprise software solutions within intricate customer environments.

• Strong grasp of protocol mediation, enterprise integration patterns, cloud technologies, security essentials, and contemporary software architectures.

• Proven experience working directly with enterprise clients throughout implementation and deployment projects.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across Product Management, Engineering, Enterprise Sales, and Consulting teams.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in customer-facing situations.

• Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple customer engagements.

• Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites across Europe.

• Proficiency in English is essential.

• Preferred: experience with financial institutions, including private banking, wealth management, custody, payments, treasury, or capital markets.

• Preferred: background in Bitcoin, blockchain, digital assets, tokenization, or fintech.

• Preferred: experience integrating enterprise software via APIs and modern integration frameworks.

• Preferred: knowledge of cloud platforms, containerized deployments, or infrastructure automation.

• Preferred: familiarity with Layer-2 technologies and digital asset infrastructure.

• Preferred: experience providing product feedback from customer implementations to influence engineering roadmaps.
