Forward Deployed AI Architect, GenAI, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Execute the operator's responsibilities for a duration of two to four weeks at the commencement of an engagement.

• Achieve working fluency in new areas such as insurance underwriting, healthcare revenue cycles, and asset flows.

• Redesign business functions from foundational principles in collaboration with operators and Forward Deployed Executives.

• Develop and deliver production GenAI systems, which include LLM applications, agentic workflows, retrieval and structured-extraction pipelines, as well as supporting services.

• Establish evaluation harnesses prior to feature implementation; determine success metrics and leverage evaluations to inform design.

• Write production-level code across backend services, data pipelines, and AI layers utilizing Python and TypeScript.

• Deploy containerized, observable, and maintainable systems on AWS or other cloud platforms as needed.

• Incorporate field insights back into Provectus industry blueprints.

• Collaborate with a Forward Deployed Executive to meet Business Unit KPIs.

• Foster system adoption and manage change as part of the engineering delivery process.

• Work in partnership with and challenge customer engineers, operators, and executives.

• Define commitments and scope prior to the commencement of delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software development experience, with a significant portion dedicated to writing accountable production code.

• Willingness to undertake the operator's role for two to four weeks prior to coding.

• Quick learning ability in unfamiliar business domains.

• Production experience in shipping GenAI/LLM systems.

• Experience in building or owning evaluation suites for non-deterministic systems.

• Strong engineering fundamentals; proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.

• Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS, including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, IaC, and CI/CD.

• Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders.

• Comfort with ambiguity and a strong sense of ownership.

• Solid foundations in AI/ML and an understanding of model failure modes.

• Extensive hands-on production experience with Claude Code/Cowork.

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

• Nice to have: experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader.

• Nice to have: expertise in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.

• Nice to have: experience in consulting, professional services, or embedded customer-facing delivery.

• Nice to have: proficiency in data platforms, MLOps/classical ML, fine-tuning, graph databases, IaC expertise, open-source contributions, or public writing on applied AI.
