This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.
• Oversee timberland assets in New Hampshire, with a focus on northern hardwood forests as well as spruce, fir, and mixed cover types.
• Work closely with the Area Manager while providing support for the same client portfolio of natural asset investments.
• Cultivate service-oriented relationships with MIMT and MIMFM personnel while upholding client fiduciary responsibilities.
• Adhere to stewardship practices concerning water quality, soil health, invasive species, and compliance with SFI/FSC certification standards.
• Supervise and enforce safety protocols for personnel, contractors, and property assets.
• Contribute to area operations management, which includes planning, budgeting, GIS updates, and quarterly property reports.
• Manage harvesting operations, encompassing harvest planning, field inspections, timber cruising, timber merchandising, scheduling, bid analysis, contracting, and security inspections.
• Aid in the marketing of wood products and the exploration of new market opportunities.
• Assist with the oversight of road construction and maintenance.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and conservation easements.
• Support the development of annual operating plans and year-end stakeholder reporting.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings regarding conservation easements.
• Assist with agreements related to recreational trail usage.
• Manage harvest volumes and silvicultural prescriptions while ensuring compliance with conservation easements and carbon projects.
• Help resolve issues related to trespassing, encroachment, illegal activities, and environmental concerns.
• Utilize and supervise consultants for field-related tasks.
• Explore non-timber income opportunities and assist in managing the cabin license program.
• Support the fulfillment of wood flow and wood delivery agreements.
• Report on operational status, market conditions, stewardship efforts, risks, safety, budgets, and any casualty losses.
• Assist in the planning and leading of property tours.
• A bachelor’s degree in forestry or equivalent experience is required.
• At least 1 year of relevant career experience.
• Experience in organizational and team supervision is preferred.
• Proficient in the management of Northern Hardwood, Spruce, Fir, and mixed cover type forests.
• Understanding of management costs and return expectations.
• Familiarity with discounted cash flow analysis.
• Experience in harvest administration.
• Background in timber marketing is essential.
• Proficient in leadership principles within a team-oriented work environment.
• Knowledge of forest stewardship principles.
• Awareness of safety protocols related to timberland operations.
• Understanding of employee, client, community, and industry relations, including communication and employee safety.
• Proficient with timberland accounting, inventory/GIS systems, and general forestry operations.
