This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of timberland assets in New Hampshire, with an emphasis on northern hardwood forest management, as well as spruce, fir, and mixed cover types.

• Foster and sustain service-oriented relationships with MIMT and MIMFM personnel while upholding client fiduciary responsibilities.

• Adhere to stewardship policies and practices regarding water quality, soil health, invasive species, and compliance with SFI/FSC certification.

• Supervise and enforce safety protocols for personnel, contractors, and property assets.

• Assist in planning area operations, budgeting, GIS updates, and preparing quarterly property reports.

• Manage harvesting operations, including planning, field inspections, timber cruising, merchandising, scheduling, bid analysis, contracting, and security inspections.

• Aid in the marketing of wood products and the exploration of new market opportunities.

• Contribute to road building and maintenance planning and oversight.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, along with conservation easements.

• Support the development of annual operating plans and year-end reports for stakeholders.

• Participate in Conservation Easement stakeholder meetings.

• Assist with recreational trail use agreements.

• Manage harvest volumes and silvicultural prescriptions while ensuring compliance with conservation easements and carbon projects.

• Help resolve issues related to trespass, encroachment, illegal activities, and environmental concerns.

• Utilize and supervise consultants for field tasks.

• Explore non-timber income opportunities and support compliance with the cabin license program.

• Assist with wood flow and the fulfillment of wood delivery agreements.

• Provide the Area Manager with reports on operations, market trends, stewardship, risk, safety, budget, and casualty losses.

• Help plan and lead property tours for clients, stakeholders, and MFM peers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 1 year of relevant career experience.

• Experience in organizational and team supervision is preferred.

• Expertise in managing Northern Hardwood, Spruce, Fir, and mixed cover type forests.

• Familiarity with management costs, return expectations, discounted cash flow analysis, harvest administration, and timber marketing.

• Strong understanding of leadership principles and a collaborative work environment.

• Knowledge of forest stewardship principles.

• Awareness of safety practices in timberland operations.

• Understanding of employee relations, client relations, community relations, industry relations, communications, and employee safety.

• Proficient in timberland accounting, inventory/GIS systems, and general forestry operations.
