Forensic Structural Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Perform site evaluations to identify the cause, origin, and scope of structural damage.

• Examine structural damage resulting from storms, natural disasters, fires/explosions, construction/design flaws, accidents, foundation shifts, and other factors.

• Assess failure modes and contributing elements.

• Formulate clear and well-supported conclusions.

• Create technical reports, documentation, and deliverables.

• Provide timely and professional updates to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

• Bridge communication gaps and manage expectations effectively.

• Operate independently from a home office while utilizing internal experts and resources.

• Cultivate long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.

• Drive issues to resolution with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure that deliverables meet or surpass customer expectations and applicable standards.

• Offer suggestions to enhance processes, tools, and customer outcomes.

• Assist others in navigating change and embracing improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of forensic engineering experience is preferred.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a cross-functional team of experts.

• Strong technical writing skills are essential; the capability to produce effective reports is critical.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.

• Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, and related equipment.

• Experience as an Expert Witness is preferred.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida, or eligible through reciprocity.

• Capability to perform fieldwork, including inspections in confined spaces and on roofs.

• Ability to carry ladders and operate necessary equipment.

• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane; some overnight travel is required.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited university is required.
