This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
β’ Perform independent investigations into the Origin and Cause of fires and explosions, adhering to NFPA 921 and industry best practices.
β’ Inspect fire scenes, gather and preserve evidence, and document findings through photographs, sketches, and detailed notes.
β’ Evaluate fire dynamics, burn patterns, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
β’ Create clear, defensible, and thoroughly supported investigative reports.
β’ Collaborate with engineers, forensic specialists, attorneys, and claims professionals.
β’ Uphold the integrity of customer documentation and maintain the chain of evidence.
β’ Travel to investigation sites as necessary, including after-hours or on-call responses.
β’ Keep updated with industry standards, codes, litigation trends, and ongoing education requirements.
β’ Manage multiple active cases while meeting utilization expectations.
β’ Travel frequently, 2β3 times weekly, including responses up to 6 hours from home, with occasional extended travel.
β’ Perform additional duties as assigned.
β’ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting origin and cause fire investigations as a certified investigator in either the public or private sector.
β’ NAFI β CFEI certifications are mandatory.
β’ IAAI- CFI certification is preferred.
β’ Proven knowledge of NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033.
β’ Experience working with insurance companies and/or in litigation matters.
β’ Strong technical writing abilities, capable of producing professional forensic reports.
β’ Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
β’ Meticulous attention to detail and expertise in evidence handling.
β’ Professional demeanor when engaging with clients and attorneys.
β’ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Effective time management and case prioritization skills.
β’ Ability to meet state-specific licensing and regulatory requirements for Fire Origin & Cause investigations across various states/jurisdictions.
β’ Capable of working in hazardous environments (PPE Required).
β’ Comfortable with physical fieldwork, including climbing, lifting, and navigating debris.
β’ Experience with forensic documentation tools and digital reporting platforms is preferred.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PDF software.
β’ Valid driverβs license and ability to comply with ATS driving record standards.
β’ Must have a clean criminal record and be eligible and willing to provide testimony in legal proceedings as needed.
β’ Must be a U.S. Person as defined under applicable ITAR requirements.
