This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
β’ Perform independent investigations into the Origin and Cause of fires and explosions, adhering to NFPA 921 and industry best practices.
β’ Inspect fire scenes, gather and safeguard evidence, and document findings using photographs, sketches, and notes.
β’ Evaluate fire dynamics, burn patterns, electrical systems, and mechanical elements.
β’ Create clear, defensible, and well-supported investigative reports.
β’ Collaborate with engineers, forensic specialists, attorneys, and claims professionals.
β’ Maintain a chain of customer documentation and ensure the integrity of evidence.
β’ Travel to investigative locations as necessary, including after-hours or on-call responses.
β’ Stay updated with industry standards, codes, litigation trends, and continuing education requirements.
β’ Manage multiple active cases while meeting utilization expectations.
β’ Travel regularly 2β3 times per week, including responses up to 6 hours from home, with occasional extended travel.
β’ Perform additional duties as assigned.
β’ Provide expert services to insurance companies, legal representatives, and corporate clients.
β’ Support litigation by providing expert testimony when necessary.
β’ Deliver products efficiently and accurately to enhance market share and maintain customer loyalty.
β’ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting origin and cause fire investigations as a certified investigator.
β’ NAFI β CFEI certifications are mandatory.
β’ IAAI - CFI certification is preferred.
β’ Proven knowledge of NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033.
β’ Experience working with insurance companies and/or litigation matters.
β’ Strong technical writing skills and the ability to produce professional forensic reports.
β’ Analytical and critical thinking abilities.
β’ Attention to detail and evidence management skills.
β’ Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and attorneys.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Effective time management and case prioritization skills.
β’ Ability to comply with state-specific licensing and regulatory requirements across multiple states/jurisdictions.
β’ Capability to work in hazardous environments; PPE is required.
β’ Comfortable with physical fieldwork, including climbing, lifting, and navigating debris.
β’ Experience with forensic documentation tools and digital reporting platforms is preferred.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PDF software.
β’ Valid driverβs license and ability to meet ATS driving record standards.
β’ Must have a clean criminal record.
β’ Eligible and willing to provide testimony in legal proceedings as needed.
β’ U.S. Persons Only: must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee due to ITAR requirements.
β’ Continuing education requirements.
β’ PPE provided/required for hazardous environments.
