Follow Up Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Handle electronic denials, paper denials, and reports on unpaid claims

• Address denied or unpaid claims across various insurance providers

• Forward denials to the relevant departments for resolution

• Correct and resubmit claims through clearinghouse portals and billing systems

• Redirect rejected or denied claims to other departments as necessary

• Identify trends in denials and report them to the lead to help mitigate future occurrences

• Open cases and collaborate with clearinghouses when erroneous claim rejections occur

• Investigate denied and unpaid claims utilizing payer websites and online portals

• Follow up with insurance providers on unpaid claims that are over 60 days old

• Communicate with insurance companies via telephone, portals, and email

• Process appeals for denied claims

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in an Accounts Receivable Follow-Up role

• Proficient in professional CMS 1500 billing

• Familiarity with multiple clearinghouses, billing systems, and Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)

• Understanding of billing requirements across various states

• Knowledge of both commercial and government payers

• Fundamental knowledge of medical billing

• Basic understanding of health insurance carrier billing and reimbursement policies

• Strong problem-solving and dispute resolution abilities

• Capability to multitask and adapt to evolving regulations

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Outlook, and Excel

• Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks

• Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

• Suitable workspace equipped with reliable internet access
