Follow Up Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage electronic denials, paper denials, and reports on unpaid claims.

• Address claims that have been denied or remain unpaid by insurance providers.

• Redirect denials to the relevant departments for resolution.

• Amend and resubmit claims through clearinghouse portals and billing systems.

• Refer rejected and denied claims to other departments when necessary.

• Detect denial patterns and report them to the team lead.

• Initiate cases and collaborate with clearinghouses when claims are erroneously rejected.

• Analyze denied claims for corrections and subsequent resubmission.

• Investigate denied claims using payer websites and online platforms.

• Follow up with insurance carriers regarding unpaid claims that are over 60 days old.

• Communicate with insurance companies via phone, online portals, and email.

• Handle appeals for denied claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fundamental knowledge of medical billing.

• Understanding of health insurance carrier billing and reimbursement protocols.

• Strong problem-solving and dispute resolution capabilities.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to evolving regulations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Outlook, and Excel.

• Capability to prioritize effectively while juggling various tasks.

• High level of attention to detail and adept problem-solving skills.

• 1–2 years of experience in Accounts Receivable Follow-Up.

• Background in professional CMS 1500 billing, various clearinghouses, billing systems, and Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).

• Familiarity with billing requirements across multiple states, including both commercial and government payers.

• Reliable high-speed internet and stable Wi-Fi with adequate bandwidth.
