Flight Control Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Operate and master the flying of WindBorne’s autonomous weather balloons.

• Utilize knowledge of wind fields to guide balloons to designated locations globally.

• Adjust balloon navigation through altitude changes via ballast release and gas venting.

• Innovate new flight-control methods and adapt as hardware and software progress.

• Make swift operational decisions amidst uncertain forecasts and variable balloon behavior.

• Determine the best course of action to avoid or navigate through adverse weather.

• Adjust for forecast discrepancies and achieve locations close to the hardware's limits.

• Gain insights from balloon malfunctions due to hardware issues, weather conditions, or operational errors.

• Collaborate with engineering teams effectively.

• Capability to learn autonomously in a setting where procedures are continually changing.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions in high-pressure, unpredictable situations.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in collaborating with engineering teams.

• Flexibility to work extended or unconventional hours.

• Weekend availability is highly preferred.

• Reliable internet connection is mandatory.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Security clearance is not necessary.
