Firewall & Network Security Experte

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Setting up, configuring, and maintaining firewalls, particularly pfSense, OPNsense, and Fortinet FortiGate.

• Managing and enhancing existing firewall and network security environments.

• Analyzing and resolving firewall outages, configuration issues, and security-related disturbances.

• Performing updates, patch management, and closing security vulnerabilities.

• Evaluating and analyzing log files for troubleshooting and security assessments.

• Implementing security requirements in customer environments.

• Planning and executing network segmentations, VPN connections, and new network areas.

• Analyzing network topologies and assessing technical dependencies.

• Addressing complex network and firewall topics based on specific customer requirements.

• Assessing technical risks and deriving appropriate measures.

• Communicating directly with customers on a technical level.

• Handling escalations from First and Second Level ticketing systems.

• Structurally analyzing complex disruptions and deriving steps for solutions.

• Documenting configurations, changes, error patterns, and actions taken.

• Coordinating with ServiceDesk, Field Service, project teams, and internal expert teams.

• Developing internal security standards further.

• Providing professional support to internal teams on complex network and security issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in network technology and firewall administration.

• Experience in analyzing and resolving complex network and firewall issues.

• Proficient in handling technical escalations from First and Second Level support.

• Experience in direct technical communication with customers.

• Qualification as an IT specialist in system integration or a comparable qualification.

• Solid knowledge of pfSense and OPNsense.

• Experience with Fortinet FortiGate.

• Strong understanding of network topologies, VPN, routing, and switching.

• Familiarity with firewall rule sets, NAT, VLANs, and network segmentation.

• Proficient in using ticketing systems and structured technical documentation.

• Understanding of patch management, security updates, and vulnerability remediation.

• Experience in analyzing log files and technical error patterns.

• Independent and structured working style with clear decision-making skills.

• Analytical thinking ability.

• Reliability and commitment, even in escalation situations.

• Strong communication skills when interacting with customers and internal teams.

• High quality awareness.

• Responsibility for stable and secure customer environments.

• Team player with a willingness to share knowledge internally.

• Excellent command of the German language, both spoken and written.

• Knowledge of AI-assisted network analysis or security automation is a plus but not required.

• Experience with monitoring tools is an advantage but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with SIEM systems is beneficial but not essential.

• Knowledge of additional firewall platforms is a plus but not required.

• Vendor certifications in firewall, network, or IT security are advantageous but not mandatory.
