This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.
• Conduct independent assessments of financial and analytics quantitative models, which include ALM, allowance/loss forecasting, loan transition models, corporate financial planning models, take-up and engagement models, along with related decision-support analytics.
• Oversee comprehensive validation projects on complex and critical models from start to finish.
• Detect weaknesses, limitations, and potential areas for enhancement in models.
• Effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with model owners and stakeholders across Finance, Quantitative Research, and Growth Analytics to address validation findings and enhance model governance.
• Collaborate across functions to implement and uphold Affirm’s Model Risk Management framework.
• Partner with Internal Audit, Internal Controls, Accounting, and Compliance to timely address audit, regulatory, and examiner requests.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in model development, validation, quantitative finance, or data analytics, with significant exposure to financial and/or analytics model validation.
• Extensive knowledge in corporate finance, treasury, ALM, and/or actuarial/statistical forecasting.
• Experience in credit underwriting or credit risk management is advantageous.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and managing large-scale datasets like SQL.
• Comfortable reviewing models created in Excel, Python, Databricks, or similar environments.
• Familiarity with statistical modeling, time-series forecasting, simulation, and/or machine learning techniques applied to finance and analytics scenarios.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or Data Science.
• Detail-oriented and intellectually curious about data, models, and the surrounding business context.
• Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Capable of influencing model owners, presenting to senior stakeholders, and managing cross-functional remediation.
