Postdoctoral Research Position – Behavioral Science, Insurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Analyze and study human behavior to identify psychological, social, and environmental influences on decision-making.

• Conduct applied behavioral science research pertinent to insurance and public policy.

• Collaborate closely with CIPR researchers and NAIC personnel on ongoing initiatives.

• Engage in independent research pursuits related to the field.

• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.

• Present research at academic conferences.

• Foster partnerships with external academics.

• Contribute to interdisciplinary discussions regarding communication, risk, consumer behavior, and public policy.

• Effectively communicate research findings in both written and oral formats.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline such as behavioral science, decision science, economics, communication, or risk management and insurance.

• The Ph.D. should have been completed within the last two years; completion by fall 2026 is acceptable.

• Research experience and/or interests related to various insurance topics, including catastrophe and climate risk; availability and affordability/cost; policyholder protection gaps and purchasing behavior; artificial intelligence; data privacy and cyber risk; health and long-term care.

• Proficiency in designing and conducting research utilizing quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approaches.

• Familiarity with methodologies such as surveys, experiments, focus groups, interviews, content analysis, behavioral data analysis, or field research.

• Strong skills in data analysis.

• Ability to present research results clearly and concisely in both written and oral formats.

• Submission of a cover letter outlining interest and suitability.

• CV required.

• One or two representative publications or working papers to be included.

• At least one letter of recommendation must be provided.
