This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Financially secure patient accounts for endoscopy and hospital procedures as well as office visits.
• Verify and comprehensively document insurance benefits utilizing Greenway and the Authorization Worklist.
• Oversee referrals and authorizations, achieving an average of over 23 verifications daily.
• Monitor outstanding accounts and inform office and management staff about necessary postponements or cancellations.
• Maintain an error rate below 2% of the total volume processed over the last two quarters.
• Respond to the internal Financial Counselor phone line, assisting employees with verification and billing inquiries.
• Confirm benefits for office visits and manage referrals and authorizations at least three days prior to the scheduled service.
• Set up payment plans for self-pay patients and those with significant outstanding balances or deposits.
• Assist with patient voicemails, document imports, and tasks related to the patient portal.
• Complete special verification tasks and inform patients of payments, balances, and required deposits.
• Collect, record, and update patient demographic and insurance data.
• Provide counseling to patients and their families regarding payment for medical treatments or procedures.
• Fulfill information requests from United Digestive personnel.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict confidentiality concerning patient information.
• Engage in staff meetings and marketing initiatives as instructed.
• Execute other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
• Report directly to the Financial Counselor Manager.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• 3-5 years of experience in insurance verification, prior authorization, and precertification within a medical environment.
• Gastroenterology experience is preferred.
• Proficient in computer use.
• Ability to type at a speed of 40 words per minute.
• Competence in using practice management and Microsoft Office applications.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Capacity to assist patients, visitors, colleagues, and physicians with courtesy and respect.
• Professional, friendly, warm, and helpful demeanor.
• Compassionate approach when assisting those who are ill and seeking help.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Ability to interpret and implement clinical and non-clinical best practices.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
