Financial Clearance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and confirm patient demographic, financial, and insurance details for scheduled medical services

• Initiate communication with insurance providers to gather eligibility and accurate billing information for patients

• Collect copayments, deductibles, coinsurances, deposits, and other financial responsibilities from patients

• Estimate the financial liabilities of patients and clarify liability variables to them

• Receive and process payments from patients for both current and outstanding balances

• Ensure that pre-certification authorization and/or referrals are secured prior to the provision of services

• Direct patients to Financial Counselors or the Business Office based on their needs

• Reschedule appointments upon request or when financial situations necessitate a delay

• Document clear and concise financial clearance notes in the system

• Consistently apply the Financial Clearance Policy while evaluating coverage gaps and patient financial exposure

• Adjust priorities in response to changing circumstances and carry out other assigned tasks

⛳️ Requirements

• At least a High School Diploma or G.E.D.; a concentration in business is preferred

• Over four (4+) years of experience in a business office environment; experience in hospital revenue cycle, physician office, or collection agency is preferred

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting is required

• Proficient knowledge of personal computers and business office software is preferred

• Familiarity with hospital computer systems is advantageous

• Understanding of third-party collections and reimbursements is preferred

• Ability to verify demographic, financial, and insurance information accurately

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted unless certification, licensure, or registration is mandated

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm, totaling 40 hours per week
