This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead the pursuit of excellence in financial processes and functions throughout the Foundation’s operations.
• Assess and improve financial administration to ensure legal compliance and adherence to industry best practices.
• Collaborate with the team to identify and execute innovative enhancements.
• Supervise the development and execution of operational financial procedures.
• Guarantee that financial information is accessible to the Board, Chief Executive, management team, and staff.
• Assist staff with budgeting and financial activities.
• Contribute to the formulation of new strategies, including investment approaches.
• Apply accounting standards and prepare, develop, and analyze management accounting data.
• Conduct bank reconciliations, address invoice discrepancies, manage cash flow, and maintain bank accounts.
• Provide support for tender and proposal submissions.
• Ensure the accuracy of accounting and control information.
• Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and quarterly reports for the Board.
• Assist with year-end statutory accounts, transactions, reports, and returns.
• Oversee payroll instructions in collaboration with accounting partners.
• Ensure timely submission of filings and returns to HMRC and Companies House.
• Coordinate internal audits and assist with audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and correct application of VAT.
• Supervise financial records and accounts.
• Identify financial risks and document them in the Foundation's risk register alongside the Operations Director.
• Proven experience of success in a comparable financial management position.
• Strong analytical capabilities.
• Qualified with a recognized Accounting Body (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent) or QBE with over 5 years of management accounting experience.
• Essential knowledge and experience in not-for-profit financial management.
• Familiarity with Charity SORP is desirable.
• Experience in the effective development and implementation of finance systems and reporting tools, preferably including Xero.
• Desirable experience with international finance and banking systems.
• Proactive attitude with a hands-on approach and capability to drive and manage change.
• Excellent communication skills, with a passion for building relationships and collaborating across teams.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience in managing and developing the skills of team members who are new to financial processes.
• Ability to think strategically and translate financial information into practical applications.
• Desirable experience working internationally or in multi-jurisdictional contexts.
• Salary ranging from £27,000 to £30,000 / FTE £45,000 to £50,000 pro rata for a 3-day work week.
