Finance Controller – India Head

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for India.

• Enhance the quality of accruals, provisions, and reconciliations.

• Ensure that reporting outputs are ready for global consolidation.

• Serve as the main point of accountability for finance operations in India.

• Facilitate follow-ups and resolutions on outstanding finance issues.

• Manage statutory compliance and guarantee zero missed filings.

• Maintain audit readiness and oversee statutory, tax, and internal audits from start to finish.

• Resolve audit observations with sustainable solutions.

• Oversee and evaluate outputs from external partners, including Vistra and BDO.

• Review and critically assess deliverables from external partners.

• Manage employee and operational expenses in India, including budget oversight and approval processes.

• Ensure compliance with expense policies and enhance control measures.

• Collaborate with internal teams to grasp business drivers and enhance financial reporting.

• Provide insights on financial data and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.

• Ensure consistency and follow-through on transfer pricing and APA-related issues.

• Liaise with tax advisors regarding intercompany transactions and reporting compliance.

• Strengthen processes, documentation, systems, workflows, and controls to support growth.

• Decrease dependency on outsourced partners by developing internal capabilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.

• 7–15 years of experience in controllership, accounting, or finance operations.

• Familiarity with a multinational or global reporting environment is essential.

• Strong knowledge of India GAAP/India AS is required.

• Working knowledge of US GAAP is advantageous.

• Understanding of STPI/SEZ compliance is preferred.

• Knowledge of FEMA/RBI guidelines is beneficial.

• Familiarity with intercompany billing models typical in a SaaS environment is a plus.

• Previous experience working with external vendors such as Big4 or accounting firms is preferred.

• Exposure to transfer pricing or APA matters is an advantage.

• Experience with statutory compliance including GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, and PF is required.

• Proven experience managing statutory, tax, and internal audits.

• Experience in transfer pricing, intercompany transactions/billing, or APA-related issues is necessary.
