This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and manage GrowthX AI’s accounting function from the ground up.
• Report directly to the Head of Finance.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Initially direct the outsourced bookkeeping relationship, transitioning close, bookkeeping, and accounts payable functions in-house over time.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
• Analyze movements in the balance sheet and profit & loss statements, investigating any variances.
• Manage accounts receivable and collections, which includes invoicing, payment applications, aging reports, and customer follow-ups.
• Supervise accounts payable and vendor management, including approval workflows and maintaining vendor account hygiene.
• Handle ASC 606 revenue recognition, contract modifications, and billing structures related to subscription and service revenues.
• Manage the Campfire, Carta, and billing/payment systems, including planning their integration roadmap.
• Establish accounting processes, approval workflows, documentation, and internal controls.
• Review customer and vendor contracts for implications related to accounting, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Oversee equity administration, option grant processing, cap table accuracy, and legal coordination.
• Assist with treasury functions, cash positioning, inter-account transfers, and cash forecasting.
• Coordinate tax and compliance efforts with external tax and legal advisors, including multi-state filings and notices.
• Collaborate with People Ops on payroll accounting, compensation adjustments, and compliance in conjunction with the PEO.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages for lenders and investors.
• Build audit readiness through effective documentation and controls.
• Previous experience as a Controller, or as a capable Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager ready to independently manage the function, ideally within a high-growth Series A SaaS environment.
• Experience in building or significantly maturing an accounting function.
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription and service revenues.
• Daily utilization of AI tools for closing, reconciliations, and reporting, with discernment regarding the automation of accounting workflows.
• Capability to independently manage the closing process.
• Ability to evaluate accounting and cash implications of contracts, compensation changes, and operational decisions.
• Strong and direct communication skills with non-financial executives.
• Self-motivated and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a remote, asynchronous, high-autonomy work environment.
• Experience with or ability to quickly adapt to modern GL systems such as Campfire, Ramp, Rippling, or NetSuite is preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the country of residence; employment visa sponsorship is not provided.
• Minimum of 4-hour overlap with San Francisco mornings in PST.
