Finance Controller – French Speaking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Algeria.

📋 Description

• Drive compliance with technical accounting, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence across countries in French Speaking Africa.

• Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of monthly and quarterly financials in accordance with US GAAP.

• Oversee statutory filings and local audits throughout French Speaking Africa, collaborating with external auditors, contractors, and teams from the GEHC Center of Excellence.

• Conduct balance sheet analysis to maintain account integrity and streamline business processes.

• Ensure adherence to local laws, government regulations, filing requirements, and GEHC policies.

• Promote consistent application of GEHC GAP, policies, and procedures related to the closing process.

• Lead the implementation of standardized monthly and quarterly closing policies and procedures.

• Ensure timely account reconciliations and address unresolved items in coordination with Center of Excellence teams.

• Monitor and rectify process defects and inefficiencies within both internal and external Center of Excellence teams.

• Ensure robust internal controls that align with US GAAP, GEHC GAP, and local regulations.

• Oversee compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and SOCCS regulations.

• Manage governance of legal entities.

• Collaborate with the Treasury team on compliance with capital structure and liquidity requirements.

• Work together with the Tax department on CIT/VAT/WHT filings and provide support during tax audits.

• Ensure preparedness for tax audits and compliance with archiving requirements.

• Lead initiatives focused on simplification, integration, and transformation across the LATAM region.

• Drive Lean projects aimed at reducing complexity and enhancing value-added activities.

• Lead special projects centered on internal controls, financial reporting, and business growth in collaboration with P&L and Functional Finance Leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in accounting or finance is required.

• Graduate from an external auditing firm.

• Proficiency in both French and English.

• Strong analytical skills in controllership with the ability to connect financial outcomes to operational performance drivers.

• Experience in leading cross-functional projects or process improvements within finance or operations.

• Ability to adapt and remain flexible in ambiguous or evolving situations.

• Self-motivated and quick learner dedicated to meeting deadlines.

• Strong attention to detail and experience with data analytics.

• Experience in a matrixed organizational environment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to clearly and concisely communicate complex business issues.
