Finance Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution, integrity, and consistency of the monthly accounting close process for NVK & CSI.

• Own and oversee the monthly close calendar.

• Manage the implementation of the month-end close checklist.

• Collaborate with accounting support teams to address close issues prior to financial finalization.

• Ensure accurate cutoff and accrual accounting for payroll, subsidies, CACFP, rent, insurance, and recurring operating expenses.

• Prepare, review, and approve monthly accruals and journal entries.

• Maintain uniformity in accrual methodology and accounting treatment.

• Document assumptions and keep well-organized support schedules.

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial variances.

• Identify operational drivers, accounting issues, and one-time items that affect performance.

• Collaborate with the CFO to deliver actionable financial insights for leadership and ownership groups.

• Prepare and/or review reconciliations.

• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and thoroughly documented.

• Identify and escalate accounting risks or discrepancies.

• Maintain audit-ready documentation throughout the year.

• Support revenue recognition, payroll, accruals, and documentation for significant transactions.

• Act as a primary accounting contact for external auditors and tax advisors.

• Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Utilize NetSuite as the main system of record.

• Review account mappings, reporting structures, and ensure consistency in the chart of accounts.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance close efficiency, reporting accuracy, and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• MBA or Master's degree in Finance is preferred.

• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, particularly in multi-entity environments.

• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager is highly preferred.

• A background in public accounting is preferred.

• Experience working with remote leadership teams and offshore accounting support is preferred.

• Experience in multi-location, franchise, childcare, healthcare, hospitality, or service-based businesses is a plus.

• Proficiency in NetSuite.

• Strong expertise in accrual accounting and month-end close processes.

• Familiarity with US GAAP, audits, and financial controls.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Comfortable utilizing technology, automation, and AI-based tools to enhance efficiency.
