Field Technician – Western Idaho & Oregon Highlands

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide technical assistance to address network performance challenges and aid in outage resolutions.

• Oversee smaller projects or segments of projects while delivering precise status and progress updates.

• Identify and suggest enhancements to processes related to maintenance and repair tasks.

• Collaborate with senior technicians in creating job aids, scopes of work, and procedural documentation.

• Complete necessary training to stay informed about systems, products, and organizational standards.

• Maintain and enhance network performance and reliability across approximately 200 locations.

• Support radio access networks, backhaul, signaling, disaster recovery, data services, and location-based services.

• Coordinate after-hours outage responses with NOC teams, utilities, and vendors as required.

• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by business management.

• Travel throughout western Idaho, including the Boise metro area, the Magic Valley, and eastern Oregon, covering rural and mountainous regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education and experience considered equivalent (Required).

• 2-4 years of experience in Field Operations and maintenance.

• 2-4 years of experience in wireless telecommunications or a related field.

• Basic operational knowledge of electronics and interconnecting circuits, including RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio, and AC-DC power systems.

• Practical understanding of Radio Access Network (RAN) architecture, components, and operations.

• Familiarity with wireless backhaul technologies and configurations, including microwave and fiber-based solutions.

• Proven experience with, or capability to learn, RAN equipment and 5G NR standards.

• Working knowledge of base station equipment, along with installation, configuration, and maintenance.

• Ongoing training, certifications, and hands-on skill development are essential.

• Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and contingency plans.

• Capability to diagnose and resolve network issues across both hardware and software systems.

• Project management skills are required.

• Ability to provide hands-on technical support.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems independently and make autonomous field decisions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar productivity tools.

• Understanding of Internet Protocol and a willingness to utilize AI-driven tools.

• Flexibility in working hours, including day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation.

• Capability to lift 50-70 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Must be at least 21 years old to operate a company-assigned vehicle.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Ability to safely operate a vehicle, including towing equipment trailers, in adverse conditions (Preferred).

• Experience with backup power systems, Ericsson RAN, Ceragon and Ericsson transport technology, Nokia cell site routers and IP backhaul, and EXFO test sets (Preferred).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Preferred).

• Basic leadership abilities and capacity to prioritize multiple tasks (Preferred).
