Field Technician II – Client Onsite

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Offer assistance to designated locations, which include data centers, Points of Presence (POPs), and physical site services.

• Collaborate with network teams and local vendors for the execution of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks.

• Implement physical-layer rack and stack setups.

• Uphold quality standards at the assigned data centers and remote POPs.

• Conduct physical installations, repairs, maintenance, and testing procedures.

• Aid in card additions or replacements, software upgrades, and related testing processes.

• Suggest enhancements to processes that impact network asset quality and operational efficiency.

• Provide support for site surveys related to OSP and ISP projects, large space and power initiatives, and equipment deployments.

• Execute site audits and resolve data discrepancies in collaboration with Network Surveillance and other departments.

• Assist in managing local construction vendors to ensure adherence to MOPs, standards, quality, and cleanliness.

• Coordinate with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and other technicians to facilitate installation, repair, and maintenance efforts.

• Conduct site surveys for network constructions, augmentations, and decommissions.

• Support site access, equipment staging, and other related tasks.

• Travel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Develop productive relationships both internally and externally.

• Utilize judgment within established procedures and practices to determine the appropriate course of action.

• Knowledgeable about data center and POP infrastructure, including OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and relay rack/cabinet/cage construction.

• Familiar with the installation and maintenance of telecom/network equipment, such as DWDMs, backbone and management routers, IP switches, and optical and digital infrastructure.

• Understand splicing and working within a manhole, vault, or handhole environment.

• Proficient with telecommunications testing equipment, including microscopes, source and power meters, and OTDRs; experienced in testing SONET and Ethernet bandwidths.

• Knowledgeable about telecommunications testing standards and procedures.

• Familiar with state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with LEC and telecom service provider technicians, building landlords, electricians, construction operators, and non-technical end users.

• Capable of working independently, diagnosing problems, and taking suitable action with minimal supervision.

• Experienced with spreadsheets, workflow and project management applications, and administrative software tools.

• Understand how to utilize a Tier-1 ITSM platform.

• Able to perform office-related tasks, move around an office environment, use a computer, and communicate effectively.

• Some positions may necessitate occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
