Field Technician II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Offer assistance to designated sites, which include data centers, Points of Presence (POPs), and physical site services.

• Collaborate with network teams and local vendors for installation, repair, and maintenance tasks.

• Execute physical-layer rack and stack configurations.

• Conduct physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing operations.

• Aid in card additions or replacements, software upgrades, and related testing activities.

• Suggest process enhancements that impact network asset quality and operational efficiency.

• Provide site survey assistance for OSP and ISP projects, large space and power initiatives, and equipment deployments.

• Carry out site audits and resolve data discrepancies with Network Surveillance and other departments.

• Assist in managing local construction vendors to ensure adherence to MOPs, standards, quality, and cleanliness.

• Coordinate with LECs and other technicians to facilitate installation, repair, and maintenance efforts.

• Conduct site surveys for network builds, augmentations, or decommissions.

• Support site access, equipment staging, and related responsibilities.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Proficient understanding of data center and POP infrastructure, including OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and relay rack/cabinet/cage construction.

• Experience with the installation and maintenance of DWDMs, backbone and management routers, IP switches, and optical and digital infrastructure.

• Familiarity with splicing and working within manhole, vault, or handhole settings.

• Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment, such as microscopes, source and power meters, and OTDRs.

• Experience testing across SONET and Ethernet bandwidths.

• Understanding of telecommunications testing standards and procedures.

• Familiarity with state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements.

• Ability to collaborate with LECs, telecom service providers, landlords, electricians, construction operators, and non-technical end users.

• Capability to work independently, diagnose issues, and take appropriate actions with minimal supervision.

• Proficient in using spreadsheets, workflow and project management applications, and administrative software.

• Familiarity with utilizing a Tier-1 ITSM platform.

• Ability to perform office-related tasks, navigate within an office environment, use a computer, and communicate effectively.
