Field Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Offer technical assistance for FAA programs and systems, such as FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS, and other supported initiatives.

• Install, repair, configure, test, and conduct preventative maintenance on equipment at customers' remote sites.

• Provide scheduled and on-call field support at customer locations within the designated area.

• Occasionally travel to remote sites outside the assigned area to meet FAA customer requirements.

• Read and interpret equipment drawings and task orders.

• Document the work completed and events occurring at customer sites.

• Collaborate with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk via phone to troubleshoot field issues.

• Maintain tools, testing equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory, and personal or company vehicles.

• Prepare for assigned tasks prior to dispatch.

• Work outside of regularly scheduled hours when necessary to accommodate customer needs.

• Adhere to L3Harris and program-specific policies and procedures in collaboration with the supervisor/ASL.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year post-secondary/Associate's Degree with at least 4 years of related experience.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.

• Capable of obtaining and maintaining an FAA security clearance.

• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow equipment drawings and task orders.

• Capable of lifting items weighing up to 32 lbs. and utilizing ladders or step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet.

• Preferred certifications include Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, or A+.

• Familiarity with cable connectors such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, and RS-449 is preferred.

• Working knowledge of fiber, multiplexes, network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET, ATM, private line, and both voice and data applications is preferred.

• Knowledge of AC/DC power testing, including 3 Phase AC, and 24VDC/48VDC power supplies is preferred.

• Experience with T1, DS3, BERT, and Analog VG testing in accordance with Bell Core Standards is preferred.

• Familiarity with network test equipment such as JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, digital oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, and Para-scope is preferred.

• Preferred experience in IP-based knowledge and configuring routers and switches.

• Experience in installing equipment racks is preferred.
