Field Service Technician – Food Processing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Travel extensively to customer locations to oversee the installation, commissioning, repair, and modification of automated food processing equipment.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, and control panel challenges.

• Conduct thorough preventive maintenance to enhance equipment reliability and operational uptime.

• Educate customer operations and maintenance teams on equipment functionality, safety protocols, and best mechanical practices.

• Offer immediate technical support and troubleshooting assistance both on-site and remotely via phone or digital communication.

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to assist customers in optimizing their production lines.

• Complete detailed service reports and document technical findings, root causes, and utilized parts.

• Manage assigned tools, equipment, and inventory of spare parts.

• Comply with company and customer safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and OSHA regulations.

• Provide support for urgent customer situations and after-hours service needs as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 1 year of field service experience, ideally in the meat processing or food processing sectors.

• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and repair methodologies.

• Familiarity with PLC systems and control panels.

• Capability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams.

• Exceptional problem-solving and customer service abilities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.

• Capacity to work independently and manage time efficiently while traveling and working on-site.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional short-notice and after-hours support.

• Valid driver’s license is required.

• Experience in servicing industrial food processing or packaging equipment is preferred.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
