Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Diagnose issues with machines and carry out service, maintenance, and repairs to ensure equipment functions correctly.

• Commission new machines, including testing and demonstrating the equipment at customer locations.

• Repair current equipment at customer facilities.

• Conduct machine start-ups, troubleshooting, repairs, and provide training to customers.

• Suggest repair parts and enhancements to products for customers.

• Guide and train customers on the proper maintenance and operation of Nordco equipment.

• Maintain records of weekly travel expenses and field reports.

• Collaborate with engineering and/or production teams to address issues with new machines.

• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of equipment and processes.

• Travel over 80% to customer sites in Canada and abroad.

• Operate independently while establishing strong relationships with customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or an equivalent qualification.

• At least 5 years of experience as a mechanic for industrial or mobile heavy equipment.

• In-depth knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

• Proficient in reading schematics.

• Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.

• Capable of interpreting written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions.

• Proficient in reading and understanding business documents, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and professional journals.

• Competent in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.

• Able to present information and answer questions from managers, customers, suppliers, and the general public.

• Possess a valid driver's license.

• Hold a valid passport.

• French language skills are preferred.

• Training in PLC and/or CanBus systems troubleshooting is highly desirable.

• Previous experience in the railroad industry is an advantage.

• Willingness to travel 70–80% to both domestic and international destinations.
