Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide technical assistance to customers throughout the lifecycle of a machine.

• Guide and physically support customers in diagnosing equipment operation issues.

• Propose innovative solutions aimed at enhancing customer efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

• Train customers’ operators and technicians onsite regarding system setup, operation, change-over, and maintenance.

• Attend required classes to obtain and retain PMMI service training certification.

• Assemble component parts for the Aftermarket parts division.

• Occasionally perform machine rebuilds and upgrades.

• Investigate machine designs to identify non-standard components.

• Respond to immediate service-support requests from customers.

• Prepare comprehensive customer and company trip reports that document issues, actions taken, and suggested next steps.

• Compile field-time reports, expense receipts, and follow-up communications with customers.

• Develop operation manuals and troubleshooting guides for machines.

• Share observations on machine design with the engineering department.

• Update and organize technical documentation.

• Assemble and test new machines.

• Take part in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in a relevant technical field or 8 years of equivalent work experience.

• 3+ years of experience in custom machine manufacturing or mechanical repair/maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical technical applications.

• Specific expertise in Allen-Bradley PLCs, servo-driven motors and controls, stepper motors and controls, and pneumatic-driven machinery.

• Ability to interpret complex engineering designs, including wiring diagrams.

• Experience in the packaging industry is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong problem-solving skills and independent judgment.

• Proven ability to multitask effectively to meet deadlines.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 85% of the time.
