Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Install, commission, repair, and maintain Modern Packaging automated machinery at client locations, encompassing both electrical and mechanical tasks.

• Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to meet contracted efficiency rates, conduct audits, implement upgrades, and provide follow-up training for operators.

• Record all service activities (installations, commissioning, repairs, and upgrades) in comprehensive site reports.

• Assist customers by recommending machine upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts that enhance safety, performance, reliability, and inventory management.

• Train customer personnel during installation, commissioning, and maintenance procedures.

• Support the Modern facility in Deer Park, NY, and engage in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.

• Maintain adaptability to various work environments and resolve issues promptly.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience as a Field Service Technician (or a comparable role) with over 3 years of machine startup, repair, and maintenance on medium to large-scale industrial machinery.

• High School Diploma is required; an Associate’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline (mechanical or electrical) is preferred.

• Strong technical abilities, including mechanical repairs, capability to interpret part/assembly drawings and wiring schematics, and familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and servo controllers (preferred).

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills to effectively handle schedules, documentation, and technical challenges.

• Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the capability to clearly explain technical information, train customer personnel, and collaborate effectively with operators and management at all levels.

• Self-driven and adaptable, capable of working independently while upholding a positive and professional demeanor.

• Willingness to travel up to 75% both domestically and internationally (passport required; occasional trips to Mexico and Canada).
