Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Install, test, calibrate, and maintain electrical equipment and control systems across low, medium, and high voltage levels.

• Troubleshoot issues related to electrical, mechanical, control systems, PLCs, generators, switchgear, relays, and power distribution.

• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance inspections to ensure optimal operation.

• Diagnose equipment failures and identify root causes using schematics, drawings, diagnostic tools, and testing equipment.

• Carry out repairs, retrofits, upgrades, and modifications on equipment as necessary.

• Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-call support as required.

• Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers.

• Advise customers on maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and operational enhancements.

• Prepare service reports that document findings, corrective actions taken, recommendations, and parts utilized.

• Assist in service quoting through field assessments and the development of scopes.

• Comply with company policies, customer requirements, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and relevant safety standards.

• Perform job hazard analyses, utilize PPE, and adhere to lockout/tagout protocols.

• Report any safety concerns, incidents, and near misses promptly.

• Complete necessary service documentation, expense reports, timesheets, and travel logs.

• Maintain tools, testing equipment, vehicles, and inventory for company use.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and complete required training and certification programs.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in field service, maintenance, or troubleshooting of electrical power systems, generators, switchgear, controls, or industrial equipment.

• Preferred experience in sectors such as power generation, utilities, marine, oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial settings.

• Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and electrical control systems is a plus.

• Understanding of electrical theory, power distribution systems, switchgear, generators, protective relays, and control systems.

• Capability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar PLC platforms is desirable.

• Proficient in using multimeters, insulation testers, power quality analyzers, and other electrical testing equipment.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and service reporting software is required.

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

• An Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics Technology, or a related field is preferred.

• Technical trade school certification is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel frequently and provide on-call support as assigned.

• Ability to stand for extended periods, work in proximity to machinery, and adhere to safety and compliance standards.

• Capable of navigating the manufacturing plant, which includes walking, standing, and climbing stairs.

• Manual dexterity to handle tools and controls is essential.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in line with OSHA standards.

• Sufficient vision and hearing capabilities to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively.
