Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical support and expertise both onsite and offsite for site work requests.

• Execute installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of ABB variable frequency drives (VFDs).

• Assemble spare parts, testing tools, and equipment while completing necessary documentation.

• Provide detailed and thorough service reports promptly, and follow up as necessary.

• Coordinate efforts with associated groups to meet objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.

• Communicate effectively and deliver information to senior management, customers, vendors, and other staff members.

• Actively participate in providing feedback on product quality issues to minimize warranty costs.

• Work under the supervision of the Drives Service Manager.

• Collaborate with Field Operations and Management to achieve successful results for both internal and external clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• An associate degree in a technical field with 3 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant experience, or military education/experience is required.

• A valid driver’s license is necessary.

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.

• Strong communication skills to engage with all organizational levels, from field technicians to senior management.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Willingness to travel 70% of the time.

• Experience with Medium Voltage drives and power electronics is preferred.

• Familiarity with motors, transformers, switchgear, and industrial communication protocols is preferred.

• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation is preferred.

• Prior Field Service experience is preferred.

• Capability to work at heights, in various weather conditions, and around energized systems.
