Field Service Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Deliver professional and technical field services at client locations for Powersmiths and Socomec electrical equipment.

• Conduct transformer surveys and establish baseline measurements.

• Execute system startup, commissioning, integrated system testing, preventive and planned maintenance, as well as emergency repairs.

• Uphold safety standards and perform work in a secure, professional manner.

• Manage complex schedules, travel arrangements, and site access for secure environments.

• Carry out on-site activities with precision and ensure timely delivery of reports.

• Work in collaboration with client engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to fulfill project requirements and guarantee customer satisfaction.

• Review work instructions, installation and maintenance manuals, commissioning schedules, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams.

• Liaise with technical support and management teams to escalate issues as needed.

• Acquire knowledge in transformer surveys, measurements, verification, energy savings calculations, transformer configurations, and replacement-transformer specifications.

• Prepare and submit comprehensive site reports.

• Complete both classroom and field training related to startup, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of PDUs and small/medium UPS systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent experience in the electrical or power electronics field, including relevant military experience.

• Understanding of, or a willingness to learn and comply with, health and safety regulations and protocols such as OSHA 1910 and NFPA 70E.

• Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, electrical codes, transformers, power electronics, PDUs, UPS, energy storage systems (ESS), and static transfer switches (STS).

• Ability to provide high-quality customer service while working independently.

• Capability to plan travel and manage complex scheduling for client site visits.

• Familiarity with, or a desire to learn about, the energy conservation market.

• Proficiency in gathering and synthesizing information from various sources across different projects and issues.

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, contractors, commissioning agents, and others at varying technical levels.

• Capacity to adhere to standards and fulfill customer-specific requirements.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines and project deliverables.

• Must be able to obtain clearance for access to schools and government installations; background checks and fingerprinting may be necessary.

• Ability to purchase airline tickets, rent vehicles, and book accommodations at personal expense with full reimbursement monthly.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check; ongoing or periodic testing may be required.

• Commitment to health and safety practices and regulations.

• Adherence to company policies.

• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and basic TCP/IP networking.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Valid passport for international travel.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

• Ability to move, stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and remain stationary for extended periods.

• Capacity to perform repetitive manual tasks.

• Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Proficient in reading technical documents, diagrams, and computer screens, and communicating effectively.

• Regular travel to customer sites is required.
