This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of high-value analytical instruments, such as electron microscopes and chromatography systems.
• Ensure that sophisticated scientific instruments function at optimal performance levels.
• Provide outstanding technical service while representing Thermo Fisher Scientific.
• Develop strong relationships with customers to support critical research and innovation.
• Diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues.
• Assist customers in achieving groundbreaking discoveries in health, environmental, food safety, and cancer research.
• Travel to customer sites and respond to emergency service requests as necessary.
• Bachelor's Degree; prior experience is not mandatory.
• Preference for Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biomedical) or a related scientific discipline.
• Advanced degrees or specialized certifications are advantageous.
• Strong aptitude in electronics and mechanics, including component-level diagnostics.
• Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Proven problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities.
• Proficient with Windows operating systems, MS Office, and service management applications.
• Capability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel up to 50–75% of the time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain standing for extended durations.
• Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems and high-voltage equipment is preferred.
• Availability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service requests.
• Must be able to obtain necessary credentials for accessing customer facilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Commitment to adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards.
• Capability to work in cleanrooms, laboratories, warehouses, in fluctuating temperatures, loud environments, at heights, and with hazardous/toxic materials.
• Ability to utilize required personal protective equipment.
