Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Commission, diagnose issues, maintain, and enhance industrial combustion systems throughout the United States and occasionally abroad.

• Analyze system-wide challenges and conduct root cause analysis on malfunctioning equipment.

• Review, modify, and assist with PID loop programming in both single- and multi-loop control systems.

• Utilize electronic testing tools such as multimeters, pressure/flow transmitters, and combustion analyzers to assess system performance.

• Collaborate with plant operators, engineers, maintenance teams, and management personnel.

• Suggest enhancements to boost system performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety.

• Work together with U.S.-based sales, engineering, project management, and service teams.

• Create service reports, timesheets, and technical documentation following field assignments.

• Adhere to Bloom Engineering's safety protocols, customer site regulations, and relevant local safety laws.

• Identify the needs for spare parts within Bloom Engineering’s customer network.

• Collect technical information regarding customer heating applications for the engineering, applications, and sales teams.

• Gather and communicate technical information for customer warranty claims.

• Establish and nurture long-term customer relationships while representing Bloom Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree in engineering technology or applied sciences from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or a related technical field) is preferred.

• Candidates with less than 4 years of relevant experience must reside within a reasonable distance from the Pittsburgh headquarters for onboarding and initial training.

• Proficiency in English is required.

• Capability to compose reports in English.

• OSHA 10-Hour and NFPA 70E safety training, or the ability to obtain them.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

• A valid passport is required, or the ability to obtain one.

• Willingness and capability to travel up to 80% of the time.

• Prior field experience with industrial combustion systems, burners, furnaces, or heat-processing equipment is essential.

• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems is necessary.

• Competence in calibrating, utilizing, and analyzing mechanical and electrical instruments.

• Ability to interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.

• Knowledge of PID control systems and instrumentation is preferred.

• Experience in troubleshooting PLC ladder logic is beneficial.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities are essential.

• Proficiency in Spanish communication is preferred.

• Competence with Microsoft Office applications is required.

• Must be able to work independently and adapt to varying field conditions.
