Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance new, existing, and retrofitted industrial combustion systems throughout the United States and occasionally abroad.

• Investigate system-wide challenges and conduct root cause analysis on malfunctioning equipment.

• Review, modify, and provide support for PID loop programming in both single- and multi-loop control systems.

• Utilize electronic testing equipment, such as multimeters, pressure/flow transmitters, and combustion analyzers, to assess system performance.

• Engage directly with plant operators, engineers, maintenance teams, and management.

• Suggest improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety.

• Collaborate with U.S.-based sales, engineering, project management, and service teams to tackle technical challenges and assist with projects.

• Create comprehensive service reports, timesheets, and technical documentation following field assignments.

• Adhere to Bloom Engineering safety protocols, customer site requirements, and local safety regulations.

• Identify spare-parts requirements within Bloom Engineering’s customer base.

• Collect technical information on customer heating applications for engineering, applications, and sales teams.

• Gather and communicate technical details concerning customer warranty claims.

• Cultivate and sustain long-term customer relationships while representing Bloom Engineering with professionalism.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree in engineering technology or applied sciences from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or a similar technical field).

• Candidates with less than 4 years of relevant experience must reside within a reasonable distance from the Pittsburgh headquarters for onboarding and initial training.

• Proficiency in English.

• Capability to write reports in English.

• OSHA 10-Hour and NFPA 70E safety training, or the ability to obtain them.

• Valid driver's license.

• Valid passport, or the ability to obtain one.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time; over 90% of travel will be within the United States.

• Previous field experience with industrial combustion systems, burners, furnaces, or heat-processing equipment is preferred.

• Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

• Ability to calibrate, utilize, and analyze mechanical and electrical instruments.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.

• Familiarity with PID control systems and instrumentation.

• Experience troubleshooting PLC ladder logic.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Spanish proficiency is a plus.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to work independently and adapt to varying field conditions.

• Strong desire to learn and advance within a technical field service environment.
