Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Ensure that advanced scientific instruments function at optimal levels.

• Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific by providing outstanding technical support.

• Cultivate robust relationships with clients, facilitating essential research and innovation.

• Install, maintain, and repair high-value analytical equipment, such as electron microscopes and chromatography systems.

• Identify and resolve intricate technical challenges.

• Assist customers in achieving groundbreaking discoveries that contribute to a healthier, cleaner, and safer world.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree; no prior experience necessary.

• Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biomedical) or a related scientific discipline.

• Advanced degrees or specialized certifications are advantageous.

• Strong mechanical and electronic skills with the capacity to diagnose issues down to the component level.

• Excellent customer service abilities and a professional demeanor.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

• Proven problem-solving skills and analytical thinking capabilities.

• Proficient in Windows operating systems, MS Office, and service management software.

• Ability to read and understand technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 50-75% of the time.

• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand for prolonged periods.

• Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems and high voltage equipment is preferred.

• Availability to work flexible hours and to respond to emergency service requests.

• Must be able to obtain necessary credentials to access client facilities.

• Strong organizational skills and an effective time management ability.
