Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Deliver both standard and advanced technical and sales assistance to clients.

• Assess customer claims to determine warranty outcomes.

• Organize and manage customer visits and project activities to reduce travel costs and enhance completion timelines.

• Support Engineering and Manufacturing by providing design suggestions and conducting inspections of new equipment.

• Address inquiries from customers and vendors, assessing the urgency and nature of their needs.

• Clarify complex issues and their solutions.

• Offer both remote and on-site technical support for equipment operations, system commissioning, personnel training, and troubleshooting.

• Conduct inspections and tests on materials and machinery, which include instrument loop checks and safety evaluations of systems.

• Examine customer complaints and warranty claims to identify root causes that necessitate corrective measures.

• Compile comprehensive reports for the central office based on diagnoses from customer visits, technical challenges, maintenance suggestions, and solutions.

• Provide technical training to end-users during the installation and commissioning phases.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

• Practical Mechanical or Electrical experience with manufacturing equipment, preferably in the aluminum or primary metals sector.

• Preferred experience with industrial fuel-fired equipment/engineered systems and PLC controls.

• Capability to evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair machinery using established principles, techniques, and standard operating procedures.

• Fundamental understanding of raw materials, production methods, and basic machinery.

• Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for creating precise technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

• Proficiency in applying PLC knowledge for the design, programming, and maintenance of automated machinery and equipment.

• Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Products, Visio, and Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).

• Willingness to travel by land and air up to 80%, both domestically and internationally.

• Valid driver’s license and US Passport, or the ability to obtain them as required.

• Flexibility to work extended hours based on business demands.
