Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver field service assistance to the Optos customer base.

• Install, repair, conduct preventive maintenance, and retrofit Optos instrument products.

• Coordinate the installation of new customer sites by collaborating with the internal field support team and holding pre-installation conference calls with customers.

• Assist customers with the operational aspects of instruments, equipment, and software.

• Set up and maintain wired computer networks.

• Complete and submit all necessary regulatory and company-required documentation.

• Provide remote diagnosis and repair support when necessary.

• Communicate recurring field failures and quality concerns to internal support specialists.

• Ensure repair parts are available on-site and manage related CRM transactions accurately and promptly.

• Test repaired instruments in all operating modes according to specifications.

• Educate customers on the use and maintenance of Optos instrumentation.

• Represent Optos at technical shows and exhibitions as needed.

• Assist with marketing shows when required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with electronics, networking, complex instrumentation, military service, or medical devices is preferred.

• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across mechanical, electrical, software, network, and instrumentation issues.

• Experience with software installation, network integration, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to understand technical documents, schematics, service procedures, and work instructions.

• Excellent written, verbal, and customer-facing communication skills.

• Strong time management, adaptability, teamwork skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Willingness to travel domestically up to 70% and stay overnight; potential for international travel.

• Capability to frequently lift, lower, carry, push, or pull 1-50 lbs and occasionally 50-100 lbs.

• Manual dexterity of arms, hands, and shoulders to push, pull, and grasp equipment/tools.

• Ability to work in confined spaces.
