Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct electromechanical, electronic, and pneumatic diagnostics on automated CNC cutting machines, servo drive systems, height sensors, and plasma units.

• Oversee on-site system integration, machine alignment, leveling, I/O verification, CNC parameter setup, process gas calibration, and test cutting.

• Carry out scheduled maintenance audits, component rebuilds, motion calibration, torch consumable optimization, and emergency repairs.

• Diagnose and interface with CNC controllers, PLC logic, industrial fieldbuses, and safety interlocks.

• Train customer maintenance technicians, CNC programmers, and operators in machine safety, operation, torch setup, and preventive maintenance.

• Create Field Service Reports documenting failure modes, root causes, corrective actions, and suggested spare parts.

• Collaborate with Aftermarket and R&D engineering teams to enhance design reliability.

• Evaluate system wear profiles and develop BOM recommendations for essential spare parts packages.

• Assist customers with retrofit and upgrade strategies.

• Work directly on-site at customer manufacturing facilities, heavy fabrication plants, shipyards, and structural steel operations throughout the United States.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology (EET), Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical trade school certificate / U.S. Military technical rating.

• 2–5+ years of practical experience in industrial field service, machine tool repair, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, ladder logic, hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, and mechanical assembly blueprints.

• Strong commitment to industrial safety standards, including OSHA compliance, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and NFPA 70E / Arc Flash awareness.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, work in industrial plant settings, climb ladders, navigate around large gantry machinery, and stand/walk for extended durations.

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

• Eligibility to acquire a U.S. Passport.

• Direct experience with thermal cutting technologies and CNC motion platforms is preferred.

• Familiarity with CNC nesting software, CAD/CAM file formats (DXF, DWG, ESSI, G-code), and remote diagnostic tools is preferred.

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a valuable asset.
