Field Service Controls Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Install, service, and repair equipment sold by JBT Marel at client locations.

• Execute technical controls along with electrical and mechanical tasks.

• Diagnose equipment issues and provide software repair solutions or recommendations.

• Adhere to JBT Marel's safety policies and protocols.

• Interpret equipment manuals, electrical and mechanical CAD drawings, P&IDs, and flow diagrams.

• Compile and submit weekly inspection, service, timesheet, and expense reports.

• Suggest equipment modifications and guide clients on ordering replacement parts.

• Collaborate with engineering to address atypical system operation and maintenance challenges.

• Engage with customers regarding the status of commissioning.

• Oversee and mentor customer or employee personnel in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment.

• Design functional HMI screens.

• Develop and modify PC or PLC programs for controlling industrial food processing machinery.

• Record changes, updates, work processes, and ensure revision control.

• Assist with engineering-related inquiries and offer remote support to Field Service Engineers.

• Conduct maintenance and setup activities on JBT Marel products.

• Configure and fine-tune machines on-site to meet equipment specifications.

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical machinery components.

• Carry out machine audits, repairs, and scheduled preventive maintenance.

• Identify problems, disassemble machines, replace faulty parts, and reassemble machinery.

• Recognize and articulate root-cause problem statements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience with control systems applications, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff.

• 3-5 years of experience interpreting electrical schematics.

• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints.

• Proficient in Allen Bradley PLC hardware: ControlLogix and CompactLogix.

• Proficient in Allen Bradley PLC software: Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, and RSLogix 500.

• Knowledgeable in Beckhoff Automation control platforms.

• Familiarity with EtherNet/IP networking protocols and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

• Competent in computer skills, including the use of laptops and smartphones, as well as proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Willingness to travel, including nights and weekends, depending on business needs and priorities.

• Up to 90% travel required, with some international travel involved.

• Occasionally lift heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Capable of squatting, prolonged standing, and working at various heights.

• Two-year technical school training or a related bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Experience in the food and beverage manufacturing sector is preferred.
