This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Promote and sell titles from Hachette Book Group and client publishers to independent bookstores within a southeastern US territory.
• Build and nurture relationships with existing accounts while also seeking to establish new ones.
• Keep account profiles up-to-date and accurate.
• Present, market, and facilitate orders for frontlist titles during seasonal sales meetings.
• Conduct sales appointments both in person and via phone as necessary.
• Update accounts regarding changes in listings, special promotions, publicity efforts, and cooperative advertising opportunities.
• Deliver outstanding service to booksellers.
• Prepare regular sales reports and provide insights on titles, promotions, and sales performance.
• Meet individual and company budgetary objectives.
• Represent accounts in interactions with Marketing, Publicity, Customer Financial Services, and other internal teams while adhering to company policies.
• Collaborate with field and telephone sales team members on various projects.
• Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the Hachette catalog and current publishing trends.
• Conduct periodic reviews of backlist titles aimed at maximizing sales growth.
• Create promotional and marketing plans tailored to specific accounts.
• Attend meetings, regional trade shows, Rep Pick nights, occasional author events, and other industry gatherings.
• Report directly to the Field Sales Director.
• Minimum of 6 years of demonstrated sales experience, particularly in trade publishing, bookselling, or a related area.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Capability to exercise sound judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational capabilities and keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Proven track record of producing timely and accurate work, showcasing effective follow-up and follow-through.
• Willingness to collaborate as a team member within the sales department and the broader company.
• Comfort with extensive travel by car and air.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Passion for books and reading.
• Proficient in PC skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with Edelweiss preferred.
