This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden, +1 more country.
• Plan and implement field activities in Sweden while ensuring the safety of individuals, contractors, partners, communities, and the environment.
• Oversee 1–3 field operations projects annually in Sweden, with the possibility of extending to other Nordic or European regions.
• Organize intricate exploration initiatives and moderate-scale development programs, which include drilling campaigns, electromagnetic surveys, and reconnaissance efforts.
• Direct procurement strategies, contractor selection processes, bid evaluations, benchmarking, and contract management.
• Formulate project risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and critical control implementations, particularly for Swedish winter construction conditions.
• Facilitate project kick-off meetings with integrated teams and contractors.
• Manage comprehensive project execution from mobilization through to demobilization and project closure.
• Provide leadership in response to changing field conditions, including Arctic and sub-Arctic weather challenges.
• Monitor and project production rates, spending patterns, and resource needs.
• Oversee field activities and evaluate contractor performance.
• Maintain regular communication with KoBold personnel and contractors, and interact with project geology, data science, and planning teams.
• Direct site remediation and rehabilitation in compliance with Swedish regulatory standards.
• Conduct contractor performance reviews and document lessons learned.
• Ensure adherence to Swedish mining and environmental laws, EU regulations, permitting procedures, land access agreements, community relations, and joint venture stipulations.
• Act as a representative of KoBold Metals to Swedish communities, landowners, municipal authorities, and environmental agencies.
• Enhance field operating processes for machine-learning-enhanced dynamic programs.
• Mentor Field Operations Supervisors.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in field operations within mineral exploration and mining, oil and gas, or a related sector, demonstrating a progression in complexity and responsibility.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, particularly those pertinent to winter and frozen-ground settings in Nordic environments.
• Advanced understanding of helicopter-supported exploration, focusing on optimization and emergency response considerations.
• Strong grasp of procurement processes including RFP development, bid evaluation, and contract administration.
• Comprehensive understanding of rehabilitation and closure planning.
• Proven commitment to health and safety standards, encompassing incident management, root cause analysis, and the implementation and verification of corrective actions.
• Strong conceptual comprehension of HSE, Land and Permitting, Legal, and Business Development systems as they pertain to exploration projects.
• Ability to manage and supervise staff and contractors during complex and high-risk field programs.
• Capability to design intricate field programs, including scope definition, cost estimation, risk assessment, procurement, and project execution planning.
• Proficiency in generating precise deliverables aligned with the Exploration Project Lifecycle and synthesizing insights for integrated project teams and leadership.
• Willingness to work in remote and isolated locations for extended durations, including Swedish Norrbotten and other Nordic environments.
• High level of independence and effective performance with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Valid First Aid Certification.
• Preferred qualifications: expertise in at least two operational types; understanding of data science products; experience with Swedish and/or Nordic regulations; experience as part of interdisciplinary exploration teams; familiarity with project management; experience with complex cold-weather logistics; proficiency in Finnish or other Nordic languages.
