This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Initiate, lead, and implement scientific research and development strategies for Valent U.S.A. LLC’s conventional, sustainable, and organic product lines.
• Plan and conduct field research while coordinating research trials within the designated territory.
• Create study protocols and monitor/report results utilizing Valent’s internal research software and procedures.
• Carry out sales support trials, which include product demonstrations and small plot replicated studies.
• Investigate potential product complaints and devise viable solutions.
• Establish and maintain relationships with university and extension personnel, commodity representatives, government employees, growers/producers, and pest control advisors.
• Collaborate with the Sustainable Solutions Business Unit to develop sustainable strategies and tactics.
• Assist with product recommendations, labeling, and support for centers of influence.
• Relay actionable information to internal departments.
• Create technical PowerPoint presentations and literature to support product labels and meetings.
• Review proposed label and advertising copy to ensure technical accuracy.
• Lead and participate in teams and task forces.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant on cropping systems in the Mid-Atlantic states.
• Provide technical and market support to sales territory account managers and sustainable solutions specialists.
• Engage in the development of patent applications.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, and other departments within Valent.
• Typically requires a MS or equivalent, along with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. in biological sciences.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Focus on customer service, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
• Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Ability to solve problems, pay attention to detail, and evaluate and interpret data.
• Skills in equipment/instrument maintenance and repair.
• Willingness to work across extensive geographic territories that span multiple states.
• Overnight travel is required approximately 25–50% of the time.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.; physical demands may include lifting over 100 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is necessary.
• Capability to work outdoors in challenging conditions.
• Must obtain a pesticide applicator license and any other state-required licenses.
• Ability to travel by air or car up to 50% of the time and drive safely for long distances.
• Ability to operate around moving vehicles, equipment, machinery, uneven terrain, noise, temperature extremes, dust, fumes, chemicals, venomous insects and animals, and heights.
• May be required to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment.
