Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Support the Site Manager in organizing the layout for structural, civil, process, and architectural components of the building.

• Aid in the procurement process for construction materials.

• Execute purchase orders, track deliveries, and complete receiving reports.

• Conduct on-site material placement surveys and report quantities weekly or as instructed.

• Assist in scheduling construction activities while monitoring material deliveries and subcontractor performance.

• After two to six months, create bid lists, issue procurement documents, review bids, and assess proposals.

• Help in establishing and upholding safety and QA/QC standards and facilitate safety meetings.

• Review, log, and integrate shop drawings and submittals.

• Maintain red-line as-built drawings and update construction documents accordingly.

• Occasionally provide assistance with general labor and site cleanup.

• Regularly oversee the job site in the absence of the Site Manager.

• Conduct and document QA/QC audits across all work divisions and address any deficiencies.

• Assist with daily project updates and monthly man-hour reports.

• Make immediate safety and quality decisions and escalate any out-of-specification issues.

• Implement Gray’s safety program and act as the on-site safety representative when required.

• Investigate safety incidents and prepare accurate reports.

• Coordinate with city officials, OSHA, and inspectors; schedule and document inspections as needed.

• Take ownership of assigned scopes of work and manage subcontractors effectively.

• Keep daily progress drawings updated using Bluebeam, Excel, or Assemble.

• Create meeting agendas and minutes, ensuring timely distribution.

• Elevate customer-requested changes to the Site Manager and Project Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant construction experience, OR 4+ years of applicable construction experience in lieu of a degree.

• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, tablets, and smartphones.

• A strong work ethic.

• Willingness to travel to project sites across the United States and, in some instances, internationally.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; this position does not qualify for visa sponsorship.

• Capability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and communicate verbally or audibly.

• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

• Capacity to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.

• Clear near and distant vision.

• Must be able to work in wet/humid conditions, outdoor weather, elevated areas, fumes or airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical shock hazards, explosives, vibrations, and moderate to loud noise levels.
