Field Director, Dermatology

📋 Description

• Lead a regional team of Dermatology Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).

• Offer scientific, clinical, research, and educational assistance to healthcare professionals and internal collaborators.

• Collaborate with the MSL Head to establish and drive regional strategy, translating Medical Affairs strategy into actionable priorities and objectives.

• Conduct regular strategy evaluations with MSL direct reports, utilizing data, insights, AI tools, and performance trends.

• Provide coaching, development, feedback, and career planning for direct reports through field observations.

• Implement field Medical Affairs initiatives, product launches, proactive programs, and engage with healthcare professionals.

• Ensure direct reports showcase scientific expertise, presentation abilities, professional credibility, stakeholder influence, adaptive communication, and scientific storytelling.

• Stay updated on scientific knowledge and disease states, offering guidance to the team.

• Oversee the collection and analysis of actionable Medical Insights to shape strategy, evidence generation, and lifecycle planning.

• Drive change with professionalism, performance, integrity, resilience, accountability, and engagement.

• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and cross-functional teams.

• Identify solutions and present recommendations to the MSL Head using critical thinking, risk assessment, and sound judgment.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory and healthcare compliance while promoting ethical decision-making.

• Manage regional MSL team operations, performance, training, development, capacity, field activities, metrics, territory plans, projects, workload, and priorities.

• Recruit, retain, and nurture a diverse, high-performing team.

• Provide career development and succession planning.

• Complete administrative responsibilities including expense approvals, team metric reports, compliance documentation, and operational reporting.

• Communicate MSL team successes, insights, and impact to internal stakeholders and leadership.

• Facilitate compliant cross-functional collaboration with field partners.

• Engage in business planning and oversee training and execution of permissible field activities.

• Develop and implement regional and organized-provider strategies in partnership with the MSL Head.

• Lead designated scientific projects and programs, translating field intelligence into strategic recommendations.

• Create field scientific strategies aligned with medical priorities and lifecycle needs.

• Participate in or lead cross-functional and company-wide initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a master’s degree is required.

• PharmD, PhD, or MD is highly preferred.

• At least 8 years of relevant experience is required.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is necessary.

• At least 2 years of MSL or equivalent experience is required.

• Clinical or research experience is preferred.

• Experience in therapeutic areas is preferred.

• Previous management experience is preferred.

• Proficiency in data gathering and analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and competitive landscape analysis is essential.

• Candidates must reside in the assigned region and be near an airport.

• Approximately 60% regional travel is required, including overnight stays, periodic attendance at national scientific congresses, and key strategic/scientific meetings at corporate offices in Horsham, PA/Titusville, NJ.

• A valid US driver’s license is required.

• A demonstrated commitment to learning about emerging technologies such as AI is essential.

• Experience in building team AI literacy and fostering responsible AI use and sound judgment is required.
